The Rotary Roadies Band is tuning up for something a little more important than our next gig.

We’re proud to be a Challenge Champion Team for the 2026 Sacramento Century, coming up October 3, and this year we’re raising money for the Sacramento Children’s Home Crisis Nursery.

Our lineup includes Kevin Smith Fagen on lead vocals and guitar, Kerry Wood on vocals, flute and sax, Rachel Minyard on lead vocals, Shirley Tully Fong on vocals and percussion, Mark Ludorff on keys, Jeff Stone on bass, Dennis Smith on drums, and Tom Bacon on lead guitar.

That’s a lot of musicians—which means plenty of opinions about tempo, volume, song selection and whether the guitar solo really needed another 16 bars. But on The Crisis Nursery, we are completely in harmony.

The Crisis Nursery is the only program of its kind in Sacramento County, providing free, 24/7 emergency care for children from newborns through age five when their families are facing a crisis. Sometimes a parent simply needs a few hours to get through an emergency. Other times, they need a safe place for their child overnight while they regain their footing.

That’s a mission deserving of a standing ovation.

So the Rotary Roadies are turning up the volume and asking our friends, families, fellow Rotarians, music lovers, cyclists, and anyone else within earshot to help us reach our fundraising goal.

Every donation matters. Think of it as joining the band—you don’t have to play an instrument, wear leather pants, or help us carry the amplifiers (AKA being a Roadie). All you have to do is contribute.
