Step Up for Ostomy - 2025 · 15 April 2025 to 15 November 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I am a disabled, mixed-race survivor of Ulcerative Colitis, an Ileostomy, Multiple Sclerosis, c-PTSD, and the JW Cult. My journey began at the tender age of 10 when I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, leading to my first ostomy procedure at just 11 years old. Over the years, I have faced numerous challenges and surgeries, including an ileoanal straight pull-through, J-Pouch, and Koch Pouch, and finally an ileostomy, which have resulted in mild short gut syndrome.
As a child, I lacked the support that many take for granted, which has deeply impacted my struggles with PTSD. I firmly believe that no one should have to suffer in silence. This belief fuels my passion for advocacy and aligns perfectly with the mission of the Ostomy Canada Society: to live life to the fullest.
With many years of experience in office administration behind me, I have embraced a new path in graphic design after stepping away from work due to disability. Volunteering has become a source of joy for me as I use my artistic talents to support the Ostomy Canada Society's vital work.
This year, as part of my commitment to this cause, I am excited to participate in "Step Up for Ostomy - 2025" on October 4th. This event is not just about physical activity; it’s about raising awareness and funds for those who face similar challenges every day. My goal is to raise $1,000 to help ensure that others can find their voice and support through this incredible organization.
I invite you to join me on this journey towards empowerment and healing. Together we can make a difference! Your support will help countless individuals live life fully and without fear.
