Story
This autumn, we have made the potentially ruinous decision to sign up for a HYROX challenge in Birmingham.
For those unfamiliar, HYROX is a fitness race that sadistically combines running and functional workouts. We won't bore you with the details, but if curious, you can see more about the event here: https://hyrox.com/the-fitness-race/
Why are we doing this, you ask? Well, because we’re suckers for a late-20s / early-30s stereotype and there was no chance we were running a marathon. However, beyond the physical challenge and trope-playing, we are justifying our sign-up by pledging to raise a collective £800 (c. $1,100) for Macmillan Cancer Support -- the UK's largest cancer support charity.
We all know someone whose life has been upended by cancer, and the challenges it presents can feel impossibly difficult. So in October, HYROX will either kick our asses, or we will kick its. But regardless of who wins that particular battle, your support means we can play a small part in kicking cancer’s ass.
To put your generosity into context:
£20 could provide an invaluable session of emotional support with a Macmillan Buddy.
£39 could fund a brilliant Macmillan Nurse for 1 hour.
October in Birmingham is shaping up to be the scariest month of our year (*pause for crowd groan*). But your support for this amazing organization will make each painful km / jump / throw / push / pull / tear, etc. worth it.
Thank you so much!
Veena and Ross
