As the coach of the Vic Coppinger YMCA Swim Team, I’ve had the honor of watching our young athletes grow into strong, confident, and resilient individuals, both in and out of the water.

This summer, we’re working toward something special: getting our team to the 2025 Lone Star State Championship in late July. It’s more than just a swim meet. It’s an experience that helps these kids build lifelong friendships, represent their community with pride, and realize just how far hard work can take them.

In 2023, our swimmers earned 2nd place in the small team division at State—an incredible achievement for our tight-knit team. That moment lit a fire in them. They’ve trained through Texas heat, long sets, and tough days—all with the dream of going back and doing it again.

To help make that dream a reality, we’re hosting a Lapathon fundraiser on June 26th. Every dollar raised will go directly toward travel, lodging, meet costs, and ensuring that no swimmer is left behind because of financial barriers.
