Overlook Foundation Junior Board: Taking Cardiology to Heart

Hi, my name is Zoe Salazar. I am a junior at Governor Livingston High School and a proud member of the Junior Board for the Overlook Foundation. I am raising funds to support the cardiology department at Overlook Hospital, a place that has long been dedicated to caring for our community and helping countless individuals in times of need.
This cause is deeply personal to me. Eight years ago, I lost my my grandmother due to heart complications. She passed away at Overlook Hospital, and her loss continues to inspire me to make a difference. By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping to advance the hospital’s cardiology program, improving resources and technology to provide life-saving care. Together, we can honor those we have lost and provide hope to those still fighting.
In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and people of most racial and ethnic groups. In fact, one person dies every 33 seconds from cardiovascular disease. In Overlook’s cardiac catheterization labs, physicians can detect blockages or abnormalities of the heart’s blood vessels, arteries, valves, and chambers, and perform angioplasties, echocardiograms, and pacemaker implantations. And now the hospital’s state-of-the-art cardiology center will feature single rooms that offer intensive, intermediate, and standard acute care without moving patients. For those whose conditions are not stable enough for transfer to a regular hospital room, the new CCU will provide the highest level of medical monitoring and care around the clock.
Your generosity will help transform cardiac care, giving patients and their families hope, access to advanced treatment, and the critical support they need. Together, we can make a lasting impact, improve heart health, and save lives. Thank you.
