Event: Race the Sun Lake District 2023, on 9 September 2023
Teams of four or two will be setting off at sunrise on this Triathlon-style adventure challenge aiming to finish before the sun sets! Teams will cycle, hike and canoe around the breath taking area of Keswick in the Lake District.

Story

We are 4 siblings who have set each other a challenge in 2023. We live in different countries and this is an opportunity for us to all be together. We share lovely childhood memories of holidays with our Grandmother 'Gaagy' in the Lake District, exploring mountains and lakes.

As a team of four we are taking part in this extremely tough dawn to dusk event.... At sunrise, we set off in the saddle from the event base in Keswick for a 40-mile bike ride around beautiful winding roads surrounding one of the highest mountains in the UK, Skiddaw. This is followed by a 2-mile kayak on Derwent Water and finally climbing Skiddaw on an 11 mile round trip to an altitude of 931m.

Action Medical Research have organised this event and are the leading UK charity funding vital research to help defeat the diseases that devastate the lives of sick and disabled babies, children and young people. By supporting us, you are helping them to find ways to reduce premature birth, to support children facing a lifetime of challenges caused by disabilities, and to develop cutting-edge therapies for rare and incurable diseases.
