Story
On May 25th, 2025, I will be running the Marathon (42.2 km) and Jim (Miller) will be running the Half-Marathon (21.1 km) as part of Ottawa Race Weekend. We are dedicating our 2025 Ottawa Race Weekend races in memory of Jim Munro (Orleans, Ontario, husband of our niece, Kim) who passed away on December 28, 2024.
Jim (Munro) was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2020. Throughout the 4 long years of treatment, Jim received the best of care and support from the Ottawa Cancer Clinic. Thanks to the Canadian Cancer Society medical and support services, Jim and his family were able to navigate through the multiple roadblocks and bumpy roads of his illness and treatment. Jim was ecstatic last summer when he was told he was in remission. He immediately started to think he could get his energy back and be able to play a round of golf or two by the end of the summer. Sadly, his weakened immune system was attacked by Covid and he wasn’t able to fight that additional battle and never got to play one last round of golf.
Jim (Miller) and I count on your support on Race Day (May 25th) and a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in the memory of Jim (Munro). We will get to the finish line, with Jim (Munro) helping us along in our thoughts and in our hearts.
