Story

Pink Power and AIM High are uniting with Living Beyond Breast Cancer to support people diagnosed with breast cancer at our own special yoga event on June 5th, 9 AM-12 PM at Aim High Studio (3015 W Germantown Pike, Norristown).

Each year, Living Beyond Breast Cancer reaches over 600,000 people with their emotional, practical, and evidence-based content that is meaningful to those newly diagnosed, in-treatment, post-treatment, and living with metastatic disease. Living Beyond Breast Cancer shares wisdom and connection via conferences, events, a peer-to-peer helpline, and more. They are committed to creating a culture of acceptance—where sharing the diversity of the lived experience of breast cancer fosters self-advocacy and hope.

Aimee Sala and her team have participated in the now retired event Yoga on the Steps for the last 11 years. Stephen Sala, AIM High's founder's husband, is also a breast cancer survivor-YES men can get breast cancer too. Meera Thoniyil, leader of Pink Power, has participated in the same event since she was 6 years old. It will be eleven years since she first practiced on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, with her Mom and thousands of others. She created Pink Power in an effort to spread awareness amongst young adults. Teens can be impacted by this deadly disease in their adult life and this team will help recognize that. This year AIM High and Pink Power have decided to come together to spread awareness for LBBC.

Fortunately, Mrs. Sala has the outdoor space and facilities to host our event this year. Together we would like for as many people as possible to join us, it is a free class so anyone can join. We also recommend donating 20 dollars if possible. If this is not possible, you can also show your support by contributing to the team whatever you can. However, if you are able to come please consider wearing pink and blue in recognition of all the people, both men and women, who have had breast cancer.

Through the power of yoga, we can reach out and raise funds to ensure that anyone diagnosed with breast cancer has access to trusted information and a community of support. No one should face breast cancer alone. Everyone should have reliable information to make the best decisions for themselves.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
