I am running a night time 10k race on Dartmoor in December to help try and raise funds for someone extremely close to me.

Recently one of my best friends dads unfortunately suffered a life changing stroke.

Rob was a life loving, go getter and as he has lost the use of his left side of his body, he will require a wheel chair indefinitely. The stroke has been devastating for the whole family but they are so glad that their dad is still with them now, as they feared for his life, spending 2 months in ICU in Derriford Hospital, where they continued to sit by his side constantly.

Rob has spent the last two months in a rehabilitation centre in Newton Abbot Hospital but is soon to be discharged into a care home until they can find him suitable accommodation with his wonderful family.

The care home and various pieces of equipment that will be needed are expensive and the family really need our help.

I am doing this 10k to raise funds for the family, but also I hope to raise awareness for all Stroke patients and their families. Unfortunately, it can happen at any age, and for people who survive a stroke, it usually leaves them with long term problems and can be extremely life changing for themselves, their families and their loved ones.

I have never in my life met such a selfless person as my friend Lois and her family who have been sacrificing a lot in their own lives to make sure their dad gets the ultimate care.

I would be eternally grateful for anything that people can spare to help this amazing family out.
