Story
The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation has been set up to raise funds and awareness which will ultimately save lives. The money raised for this Foundation will go towards providing screenings for footballers at grass roots level and to assist clubs in purchasing defibrillators and to provide training in CPR.
This year we have a number of group and individual activities that will take place all over the country in aid of the Daniel Wilkinson Foundation. On the 18th of June, there will be a group running the Hull 10k. On the 25th of June a team of 6 will be taking park in Total Warrior in Leeds. And I will be personally be running the orkshire Marathon (8th October) York all in aid of The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation.
On the 12th September 2016 Dan died whilst playing the game he loved from an underlying heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC).
ARVC is an inherited condition that causes the replacement of cardiac muscle with fibrous, fatty tissue, normally in the right side of the heart. This causes the walls in the heart chamber to become thin and stretched, impacting how the blood is pumped around the body and causing abnormal heart rhythms. The condition can be found in one in every 2,000 – 5,000 adults (if it is looked for). It mainly affects young adults and has been the reason for some sudden unexplained deaths in young athletes.
Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions.
Your sponsorship for us to take part in these events will help raise money for this fantastic cause !!
All donation will be gratefully accepted.
Thanks for your support.
