Story

We feel it is important to raise awareness to a subject that tends to go unspoken of and therefore have decided to support the new Headstrong charity and have set ourselves the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro.

Approximately 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems each year. Years of budget cuts to statutory and third sector provision has left the services that are left in operation more stretched than ever and only being able to deliver limited services with lengthy waiting lists. Despite mental health problems being so common there is still a huge stigma attached to getting help and the subject of mental health still tends to be unspoken about without embarrassment or shame.

We are wanting to raise money for a new start up organisation that aims to provide a service that delivers therapeutic services that are tailored to the individual, easily accessible and free to clients across the midlands.

Headstrong will seek to develop a service that encourages men, women and young people in the Midlands to seek support that suits them. Currently there are extremely limited options available - often limited amount of sessions one modality such as CBT- and extensive waiting lists. Headstrong aims to start delivering services in September 2017 and plans to use integrated approaches to provide open ended services that will help clients move on from their difficulties.
