LUCIE AND BETH TAKE ON A HALF MARATHON!!!

The Worthing Half Marathon will take place on the 28th April 2024. A fast and flat course which starts and finishes on the seafront next to the famous Worthing Pier! The countdown is on... Happy running! #TEAMYCUL

A little update from the runners...

BETH: Initially, this started with me wanting to challenge myself, and what's a bigger challenge for the girl who couldn't run to the end of her road than to sign up for a half marathon! It did seem slightly crazy, but when I realised I could simultaneously raise money for such a good cause, there was no doubt that I wanted to give it a go. Having volunteered with Giving Back Crawley for two years and meeting some incredible people along the way, the work that The YCUL Project do is very close to my heart. Volunteering has also given me an insight into how important the work that charities and organisations like YCUL is, and I'm honoured to be involved in this fundraiser. Thank you to Lucy and the YCUL team for the work that you do, and the support given throughout this crazy journey we're embarking on in the lead up to the Worthing Half Marathon. I can now nearly run a 5km, only need to increase that by another 16km but we will get there!

LUCIE: Before having my daughter I was a fully fledged member of the work run club, but after she arrived finding the time or motivation to run was less of a priority. I have been saying that I wanted to get back into running for longer than I care to admit and when Beth mentioned that she wanted to sign up for a half marathon, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to get back into running whilst supporting a friend and good cause! Having worked with Lucy @ The YCUL Project for a few years now I have been able to see first hand the amazing work that YCUL does for the local and wider community and have also been lucky enough to take part in some of the fundraising and projects they have undertaken. I am looking forward to representing YCUL and Monty in the half marathon and should probably think about starting my training! Wish us luck!
