Pandy and I thought we would send this Christmas message before everyone hit the shops. We recently went to Durham to get Harry started at University and whilst we were there called in to see Dean and Laura.

I’ll be frank, it really upset us to see how much they are struggling looking after their Daughter Lois. She’s approaching 10 years old and if you are aware due to her severe Cerebral Palsy, she’s can’t see, talk or move the poor girl. This year they have had to fit a “peg” in her tummy so they can feed her. Dean and Laura are absolute stars and in Dean’s own words “she’s one of the lucky one’s” as so many kids with this condition are abandoned and left in a home, not cared for by loving parents like these two.

Dean is taking the next six months off to build an extension which will accommodate a lift to get her up and down stairs. The council will pay towards the building materials but not the labour or the cost of a 2 person lift. A new lift costs about £15,000, Dean is hoping to source one for around 10k .

We have been talking to Billy and Sue about how much we would like to help them and faced with Warrington shopping on Black Friday Pandy came up with a great idea (all my best one’s are hers!)

We are all so lucky, with our children and our lives and we don’t need for anything. We were just about to spend a load of money on presents for people who also don’t need anything; so we are going to set up a page to raise some money for Dean and Laura to buy a lift. When you see them struggling to get her upstairs it’s very upsetting and we realised how lucky we are, and we wanted this year to put the money towards something that’s desperately needed.

So this year we are putting all the money we were going to spend on the adults and give it to Dean and Laura, and I would ask if you were going to buy Pandy and I a present could you please give it to Dean and Laura instead. If you’ve never bought us one in the past, now is your chance (You know who you are!)

I doubt we will raise the 10k needed, but a few grand would help them out obviously.

We don’t do Facebook but would really appreciate if you all could post this as Dean and Laura have friends that would love to help them everywhere who we don’t know how to contact, and they would never ask anyone for help.

I’m going to be 20 bottles of whisky down this year, that’s how serious I am !
