This year, on Sunday the 6th July, a dedicated group of runners will be taking on the Lutterworth 5-Miler to raise funds for the nonprofit organisation currently awaiting charity status - the Academy of Dementia Research and Education.

Dementia not only impacts the lives of those living with it but also their families, carers, and communities. The Academy of Dementia Research and Education is committed to supporting people in the early stages of dementia and their families and friends who are living in the communities of South Leicestershire and Northampton. Their aim is to offer support to help those affected by dementia to live independently for as long as possible.

ADRE’s team of qualified staff deliver individual and group activity programmes which are specifically designed to be fun, keep brains and bodies active, and improve self-confidence as part of a life long learning approach. They also host monthly workshops where carers can learn about how to support their loved ones.

Their house in Lutterworth provides a friendly, warm and safe space, where people with shared experiences can relax and feel supported.

Every mile run on July 6th will bring us one step closer to a future where dementia no longer has the power to take away memories, independence, and lives.
