Story
In September 2016 Daniel Wilkinson died whilst playing for Shaw Lane AFC, from an underlying heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC). This is an inherited condition that causes the replacement of cardiac muscle with fibrous, fatty tissue, normally in the right side of the heart. The condition can be found in one in every 2,000 - 5,000 adults. This mainly affects young adults and has been the reason for some unexplained sudden deaths in young athletes.
The Foundation has been set up in Dan's name to raise funds and awareness which will ultimately save lives. The money raised for this Foundation will go towards providing screenings for footballers at grass roots level and to assist clubs in the purchasing of defibrillators and to provide training in CPR.
I am participating in the Great North Run in September and would love to raise as much money as possible to enable this excellent Foundation to achieve its objectives. If you are able to donate a small amount of money, that would be greatly appreciated. Please give what you can. Thank you! x
