Story
This is Greg.
Greg is my husband and the father of Lois and Fraser. We are hoping to raise funds to buy Greg a specialist, mobile, 'comfy' chair as an alternative to his wheelchair.
Five years ago Greg had a haemorrhagic stroke. He was cared for by the wonderful staff at the Western General and Astlie Ainslie hospitals in Edinburgh. He was in hospital for over a year and it was touch and go at times. Due to the effects of his stroke returning to live at home was not an option for him.A place was found for him in a unit run by Leonard Cheshire in Newhaven. Here he has 24 hour care and 2 to 1 support to meet his needs provided by a great team of carers. He is hoisted for all transfers and spends most of his day in a mobile chair that he inherited from another user. Other wise he has to use his wheelchair.
As Greg is in constant pain with very little mobility it is important for him to get a chair that fully meets his needs and tailored to him. He likes to spend time outside in the garden at the unit. It would benefit him greatly if he had a chair capable of outdoor use on uneven surfaces that gives him the support and comfort he needs.
Greg turns 65 in September and with your help we hope to purchase a mobile chair that will allow him more freedom to move round his home and enjoy being outside in comfort with the support he needs.
Any donation no matter how large or small would be greatly appreciated
Thank you.
