(18.11 Wilbur's 1st Birthday). Thank you so much for all of your support over the last year. With your help we have completed the following: 1 million steps in Jan, over 1000 blue heart greetings cards, pamper nights, running efforts from friends and family, a memorial cricket match, Wilbur's Grampys walking and cycling the Camino de Santiago and a sunrise walk up Pen y Fan.

For Wilbur's 1st Birthday we would like to let you know where your kind donations, given in love for Wilbur, have been donated.

- a significant donation for upgrades for the Heath Hospital Bereavement Delivery Suite. We found some peace here at our darkest hour, and hope that the improvements made through the donation will bring some comfort to others when they need it most. The total amount will be confirmed once purchases have been finalised.

- £2500 to Morgan's Wings: an organisation run by the wonderful Geoff and Jude, who we met through our Cardiff Sands group. They support people going through miscarriage and baby loss. (morgans-wings.co.uk)

-£2000 to The Junction: a Cardiff charity that offers counselling to those who experience baby loss. They have been a wonderful support to us. (www.thejunctioncardiff.org)

-£2000 each to Sands and Tommys: national organisations that fund research into reducing the rate of stillbirth and offer support to bereaved parents.

-£1000 to Mothers Matter: a South Wales based organisation that offer pre and post natal support to women and their families. (www.mothersmattercic.co.uk)

-£500 to Teddy's Wish: A charity that provides care and support for families grieving the loss of a baby and fund vital research into the causes of SIDS, stillbirth and neonatal death. We attended a parental bereavement weekend with them. (www.teddyswish.org)

-We will be keeping a small portion of the money, in addition to any further fundraising, and will donate 1/17th of it every year on Wilbur's birthday, to remind us of the generosity of those who love him.

If you have any questions about any of the organisations mentioned, please let us know.

.......................

Our beautiful son, Wilbur Colin Jones, was stillborn on the 18th of November 2020. Nothing could prepare us for going into hospital for a 'normal delivery' and then the moment we found out that his little heart had stopped beating.

We have been so fortunate to have the support of friends, family and each other. Some people have to face this difficult time alone and we want to do what we can to support other parents who experience this loss.

On Wilbur's stillbirth certificate, the cause is listed as 'unknown'. In a small way, we would like to help to fund research into why so many little lives are lost. We have read the description of stillborn babies as born 'silent but perfect' and we think this describes our beautiful son.

We are planning a series of activities for 'A Year for Wilbur'; to give us time and space to remember our baby. We will donate any money raised to charities on Wilbur's 1st birthday.

Please consider helping us in one of the following ways:
- Purchasing some greetings cards.
- Taking part in one of our fundraising activities
- Take a moment to share a kind word, gesture or understanding nod to show someone that you care. The phrase 'there are no words' now has much greater meaning to us. We have found that no 'right' words exist. For us personally, it was comforting to know that the three of us were in people's thoughts.

Thank you so much for your kind support.
