My name is Owen Dykes, I am an Army Veteran with 24 years’ service, I served with The Royal Regt of Artillery from June 1990 to July 2014 all over the world including Northern Ireland, Afghan, and Iraq.

I am running the Manchester Half Marathon on 15th Oct 2017 to raise money for the Borough of Bury Veterans Association, I am hoping to raise £500.

I am Army Secretary for the Borough of Bury Veterans Association; the Association is tri service and was established in the February of this year to bring together Veterans and dependents of all three services living in Bury together.

Our aims are

1- Afford assistance to Veterans and their dependents by providing a social and support network unifying all three services in the Borough of Bury.

2- Veterans presence at established parades in the Borough of Bury.

3-Raise funds to support Veterans and Veterans charities in the Borough of Bury.

4-Provide a social environment including visits, events and trips for Veterans and like minded people to further a sense of “belonging” within both the Veteran and wider community as a whole.
