Story
Throughout this summer we have had a cat sneaking in, eating whatever cat food our cat left behind. Sometimes she even past our cat and taken the risk to end up in a fight over a few scraps in a food bowl.
She was in a terrible state when I first saw her. Her fur was matte, dirty and she was very thin. Although she had a collar it didn't seem that anyone took care of her.
I began to put out food and water for her on our driveway about 3 weeks ago. It was all gone within minutes and as she became more familiar with our front garden, I moved the food and water further in.
Today she's got her food and water not far from our front door, and I usually let her indoors early in the morning to warm up and have her breakfast. Our cat won't accept her at all, so I have to put her in another room when we do this in the morning. Her health has improved a lot since we began to feed her and she's taking good care of herself again. The ticks are gone and any wounds she had when she first showed up has healed. She wanders off on occasion, but she always comes back again.
She is very sweet and social, and it's clearly not an outdoor cat. She used our cats litterbox the other day after she had breakfast, so she doesn't belong outside.
Sadly we can't take her in because of our own cat, but we can make her comfortable and safe outside. I've tried to find the owner ever since I began to feed her, but so far it doesn't seem that she's missed by anyone.
Winter will be here soon and it's already quite chilly at night. We made her a temporary insulated bed from a cardboard box outside, but it's not really enough. She need something that is weatherproof once the winter is here.
I found an outdoor cat house here: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_beds_baskets/cat_house/outdoor/278229 that I want to get for her before it gets too cold out there. It's only £40, but unfortunately we simply can't afford it ourselves. It has excellent reviews and it would keep her safe and warm throughout the winter.
Thank you so much for caring.
