Story
Established in 1997, the Smiles Foundation is a non-profit organisation that has been working in disadvantaged parts of Romania, aiming to 'relieve poverty, and promote education, to provide hope and opportunity through evangelistic outreach'. The Smiles Foundation receives no support from the government, and relies heavily on donations and mission trip volunteers, who get hands on with the projects. I am going out for 6 months to help on the projects, and to help in the mission centre, making sure other mission trippers get the most out of their experience. Examples of the projects include a homeless project, which includes delivering food packages, clothing, medicines and toiletries all year round, as well as rehabilitating some families, and helping them to find jobs and homes. Other projects aim to help the elderly, disabled children, families and communities. I believe strongly in this cause, as there is clearly a great need for it. The charity have helped over a thousand people since starting up, and I am hoping to help them, to help more cases like these.
