Story

I am running the New Forest Marathon on the 10th September 2017 to raise money for the fund set up in my brothers name - The Chris Maclure Foundation.
The marathon takes place 10 years to the day that Chris lost his life in a road traffic accident, aged just 21.
Chris was football mad from a young age. I remember taking him up to the school playground for a kick about when he was growing up - he loved it and was a big Everton fan. Throughout his teens Chris enjoyed success playing for both his school and local youth football teams. Chris had a great sense of humour and is hugely missed by all of his friends and family.
Fittingly the Chris Maclure Foundation aims to encourage, develop and support young people who want to become involved in football coaching or refereeing. This support is offered by way of funding for FA coaching or refereeing qualifications or the purchase of essential equipment.
Literally hundreds of young people have benefited either directly or indirectly from the foundation over the last 10 years. To date over £25,000 has been raised and redistributed by way of grants and funding.
Chris would be immensely proud that so many young people have benefitted and continue to benefit from funds raised in his name.
