I fell just short of my challenge by 1.8 lbs but i have donated £20 per pound I was short of as a fine! *

Hi everyone and welcome to my page. I am planning on doing a 'Pounds for Pounds (£s for lbs) Weight Loss Challenge' to raise money for The Saffron Rose 4 Rett Charitable Trust. My aim is to lose 30lbs/2st 2lbs/13.6kg in 6 months, raising £10 per pound lost. I did a similar (successful) weight loss challenge 5 years ago for another charity. However life got in the way and here I am again at the beginning.
You may be thinking 'Why sponsor you again? I sponsored you last time!'. Well, as you may know this is a REALLY tough challenge for me (which is worthy of anyone being sponsored), but more importantly than that, is that the money I will be raising is for such a great charity and one that's very close to my heart. It is for The Saffron Rose 4 Rett Charitable Trust, which was set up to raise awareness of Rett Syndrome a condition that my friends daughter, Saffron has, as well as to raise money to buy Tobii Eye Gaze equipment for St Martins School, Gibraltar. This equipment, allows children like Saffron, who cannot communicate through conventional means, the chance to communicate through the use of eye tracking.
For those of you that don't know very much about Rett Syndrome, the essential points are that it’s a rare genetic neurological and developmental disorder that affects the way the brain develops, causing a progressive inability to use their muscles and speech. It occurs almost exclusively in girls. Most babies born with Rett syndrome seem to develop normally at first, but after about 6 months of age, they lose skills they previously had — such as the ability to crawl, walk, communicate or use their hands.
As part of my challenge, I will be posting my weight on here every week (every Friday) to show my progress (yes, public humiliation is a minor thing in comparison to what Saffron has to go through daily). Please donate whatever you can!
