Residents and the wider community are being offered the opportunity to make Bournville's Christmas tree shine even brighter this year by sponsoring a bulb on a new set of lights.

The current lights, made up of around 650 bulbs, need to be replaced as they are no longer fit for purpose. Bournville Village Trust (BVT) is therefore fund raising to replace the lights with new brighter and more energy efficient bulbs.

Richard Hughes, Estate Manager at Bournville Village Trust, said: "Unfortunately, the current lights are no longer fit for purpose. There has been a continuous string of incidents involving broken bulbs each year, meaning frequent call outs to replace or reset them"

BVT, a registered charity, will continue to fund the cost of fitting the lights and the electricity.

Bulb sponsorship costs £5 or a more generous donation if you can.

We understand how important the Christmas tree and lights in Bournville are to you and as such, if you would like to dedicate your sponsorship to a loved one, or family member, please do feel free to leave a special message on the page when you make your donation. We will also be publishing the messages left on this page on our website www.bvt.org.uk. All funds raised will go towards purchasing new lights, with any additional funding being donated to Selly Manor Museum, which relies on public funding.
