I'm running the Robin Hood Half Marathon to raise money for Landermeads Care Home; and excellent specialised care and nursing facility for 18 year olds and above. My husband's grandma, she was well taken care of and loved during her time at Landermeads. The facility provided a stimulating atmosphere, pets, gardens, dolls, colours and grandma could really personalise her room, which was lovely. They would leave food and snacks at every corner of the facility, so those with Alzheimer's and Dementia could eat anytime they liked; and kitchen was open 24/7. The carers at Landermeads are of all ages, and they truly know each and every patient not only by name but by personality. On her last day, grandma had been at Landermeads a little over a year, and carers there had become part of friends and family. Hence, I decided to fundraise for them, in recognition of their efforts and big hearts, and to support the excellent work they are doing.
