Story
Over the last eight years I have been involved with Cycling Club Hackney and the work they do in encouraging children in the community to ride bikes and try out cycle sport.
Through BT Volunteering I help with my local primary school’s cycling club, teaching them to ride and race. The club set up and supports the Hackney Primary Schools Cycling League where over 4000 local primary school children have had the opportunity to take part in inter schools competitions every month during term time, a number of them go on to join the Saturday Youth training the clubs also runs.
(great short film on the League here )
We have now seen League participants continue in the sport and are now competing at the Junior U19 level. To help them gain experience of racing on the roads the club are putting on a 105Km Road Race on the 16th September near Sudbury in Suffolk. This is a big commitment for the club so I have set up the following link to raise funds to help cover the cost.
