Story

The Byron Integrated Cardiology Unit in East London has been instrumental in helping rehabilitate heart patients and many of us at ‘Two Touch’ following serious cardiac episodes. Two Touch AFC (@TwoTouchAFC) is our cardiac rehab group which meets weekly through football, the sessions provide for physical, mental and social well being and includes individuals who have undergone cardiac interventions from angioplasty’s to major bypass operations, from late 20s to many in their 70s, the average age of our group is 55. We owe a great deal to the Barts Cardiology Teams & Byron Cardiology Unit for the care they provide and this is a small way for us to repay the excellent care we have received. Like many NHS Trusts, the Barts Health Trust struggles to make ends meet, recently we took part in the FA Peoples Cup and we came across many other groups/teams with inspirational stories. One such team were the ‘Battling Fat Lads’ (@battlingfatlads) who also took part in the competition raising funds for Testicular Cancer.

The idea was born to for us to take on the Battling Fat Lads in the #MatchOfTheCentury and in the process raise funds for the Byron Unit. So the date for #HeartsvTesticles, #PacemakersvOddballs has been set for 11am, 10th of June 2018 at Goals Leeds. We are looking to raise £1000 for the Byron Unit so please give generously and share in Social Media. Please also feel free to come along to Goals Leeds on the 10th June and cheer the teams on.
