Story
2024 Each year, Dementia Friendly Wrexham put on a fundraising walk to raise awareness and to help support those who are living with dementia.
The need for social activities for older adults has become increasingly important and we know that they have numerous benefits for people who are living with dementia.
We are happy to support a number of groups in the local area which allow those living with dementia to join in and engage with other members of the local community such as Inclusive Arts, a dementia-friendly painting group and Singing for the Brain, a musical reminscence group. We can provide small grants to new and established groups to help support local residents live well.
Please come and join us on Sunday 8th September to take part in our Wrexham Walk for Dementia. This takes place at National Trust Erddig - it is free to attend, we just ask for participants to raise sponsorship or make a donation to Dementia Friendly Wrexham.
All funds raised on the day will be used to support the local dementia-friendly activities across Wrexham as mentioned above, as well as increasing awareness of dementia across the borough, with the aim of making Wrexham a dementia-friendly community.
Dementia-friendly activities can provide a lifeline for people following their diagnosis, offering them a safe and supportive environment where they can feel part of a community without fear or stigma.
Please get in touch if you would like to find out more about Dementia Friendly Wrexham, what's on offer in your local area or if you would like to arrange a free Dementia Information session.
