Story
Who Are We?
We are CoderDojo Derry and we run fortnightly sessions at Ulster University, Magee to teach children and young people how to code. These sessions are free of charge to attend for all kids and there are 30 places available at each one. Our dojo is run by a small team of dedicated volunteers who give up their time and energy to keep the sessions going each year.
2018/2019 Highlights
Over the past 12 months, we have celebrated our 100th session and our 6th birthday and we have been involved in many great initiatives. We started mentoring kids under 9 for the first time this year and they have all been amazing at learning how to build their own animated stories through Google's CS First program. Our over 9 ninjas have become experts in using BBC Micro:Bits and have even built programs which have been run on a Raspberry Pi on board the International Space Station through the Astro Pi project.
Our target for fundraising this year is £300 - Can you help us reach it?
2018/2019 has been a great year at our dojo and we hope to build on this success for 2019/2020. In order to do this, we need to cover our public liability insurance for next term and therefore we are reaching out for donations. We appreciate everyone's support throughout the year and all donations made so far this year will also be added to the insurance fund.
Please contribute what you can and share online to help this great cause!
It would be much appreciated if you could forward this on to anyone you think may be willing to support us.
Thank you!
From the team at CoderDojo Derry
