Story

In 2021 Dinkie very successfully raised money to support the NHS. To celebrate her 102nd birthday on 7th May 2023, she wants to help a local Community Group in Shoreham, Southwick and Fishersgate called the Gateway Hub https://www.thegatewayhub.org/ who offer food and help to local families in need.

Dinkie was dancing from the age of 3, later becoming an international ice skater, she appeared in such shows as “Puss in Boots” on Ice in 1952, in 1954 she toured with the Tom Arnold “Ice Revue” and danced for the Royal Family in the “Celebrity Ice Gala” at the Queens Ice Club in 1952, which brought a letter of thanks from the Duke of Edinburgh.

She set up the Dinkie Flowers Stage School for Children, where she taught dance for over 50 years. Staging charity shows at the Shoreham Community Centre and local rest homes, she has injected sunshine into many people’s lives.

At just 98 years Dinkie made her TV debut, tap dancing her way through the auditions to appear on the Greatest Dancer, a British dance competition television series, which won her the hearts of the British public.

Never gracefully accepting her advancing years, even well into her nineties, she was teaching dance and keep fit classes, until the lockdown in 2020 curtailed it. Dinkie says she will never stop dancing until they carry her off in a box.

To raise money for the “Gateway Hub”, Dinkie will be doing one hour sessions of keep fit and dance for 3 days each week.

Please support Dinkie, so that she can support her local Community.
