Story

(No longer allowed to work on the frontline until Covid-19 risk is reduced!)

My name is Dionne Jones, I work for East Of England Ambulance Service. (EEAST) I work at Luton Ambulance Station.

Due to an underline health condition I have been taken off of the front line meaning that I am now at home “shielding”.

This has been an emotional rollercoaster for myself personally as I have felt incredibly guilty and found the thought of staying at home and not being able to help out my colleagues on the front line really challenging.

Therefore I have come up with the best idea I can think of and I am going to challenge myself whilst I am off and I am going to be walking 10K A Day For 30 Days! (04-05-2020- 03-06-2020). From doing this I am aiming to raise money to go towards the Mental Health and support which is offered to any member of staff at EEAST.

We are facing one of the biggest challenges that could be thrown at us, we are working extremely hard everyday with increased pressure, stress and worry, therefore it is paramount that we look after ourselves individually and as a team.

I am so incredibly proud to be working for EEAST and everyday I am privileged to work alongside truly amazing people who inspire me, I am doing this for them and even if I am able to make enough money to allow one member of staff to have a counselling session, then I have done myself proud.

Thank you to anyone who takes their time to read this and who donates!
