Story
Many people in Ghana suffer from hernias. Hernias disable people. They prevent people from doing their jobs. They cause substantial discomfort and can even be fatal. I, as a general and specialised hernia surgeon, have been invited to join a team to carry out hernia surgery voluntarily in Carpenter, Ghana. For two weeks, I will undertake hernia surgery and clinics for the many locals who can otherwise not afford it. My aim is to make a substantial change to the well-being and long-term robustness of the local community. I hope to achieve this with your support and provide the good healthcare we so often take for granted.
The funds raised will cover expenses and transport of medical equipment. Contributions in excess of these will support the development of a much-needed local hospital in Carpenter. The journey is organised by the Canadian charity 'GRID &NEA' Ghana 2017'. We are a group of 15 medical and surgical professionals from the UK joining that team.
Many thanks for your support!
