Ellie Mitchell aged 15 of Helston Community College has been selected to tour South Africa with Cornwall Cricket Under 17 girls team in February 2018. This will be a fantastic opportunity for her to further develop her cricket whilst testing herself against local teams in Johannesburg and Cape Town. In order to participate in this fantastic tour each player is required to raise a total of £2300 and Ellie is therefore looking for sponsors to help support her participation in representing Cornwall on this tour.

Having started playing cricket at 10 years old at Helston CC Ellie has continued through their under 11’s, 13’s and 15’s age groups and is currently playing in Helston senior 3rd team. She also plays for Redruth CC Ladies team. Ellie was selected for the county under 13’s girls team at 11 years old and has been representing the County ever since.

She currently represents Cornwall in the Under 15’s and Under 17’s girls teams and the County senior Women’s XI. She is a member of Cornwall Crickets EPP (Emerging Player Programme) and is also 1 of only 3 girls from Cornwall to be selected for the Kia Super League Western Storm development squad, a squad consisting of 12 girls from across southwest England and Wales who will hopefully go on to play for the professional franchise Western Storm.

Ellie has been passionate about cricket since she first started playing and trains for up to 15 hours per week all over the southwest throughout the year in the hope of one day realising her dream of playing for England. She feels this tour to South Africa representing Cornwall under 17’s is one more step in her development towards achieving this dream and any donations towards it would be greatly appreciated.
