Shortly after my son was born I decided to change my career and retrain in something that I love. I returned to University as a single parent and completed my Degree. Following that, I have now been working in the heritage sector for almost 5 years.
I'm keen to progress my career in a field that I love and so decided to undertake an MA in Collections Care & Conservation Management at West Dean College. The college is internationally regarded as a center of excellence in conservation and my tutor is an expert in her field. The opportunity is fantastic!
I have self financed my first years course fees with the intention of taking out Student Finance for the second. Sadly, due to a peculiarity in their systems, I have discovered I am ineligible and must now try to fund my 2nd year some other way.
As you can imagine, I have been looking for every sort of bursary or grant that I may be eligible for, but I am unsure if this will be enough.
The £3000 target is aspirational will (hopefully!) reduce if I am lucky enough to receive any funds from elsewhere.
I've worked so hard in the first year and learnt so much. I really want to see my studies through to the end and move towards realising my career goals. I want to show my son that anything is possible if you try your hardest.
