Story

On the 10th December 2022, Emily sadly lost her Dad, Dave, to lung cancer peacefully at home. Dave was a larger than life character that bought happiness to so many people. He was a wonderful Dad, Partner and Grandad and we all miss him so much.

During a really difficult time when we were struggling for support and looking for answers, the whole team at Sutterton Surgery were the ones who cared for him the most. They would provide him with extra equipment to ensure he was comfortable at home, and go out of their way whenever he needed them, as we all knew they were the only ones we could rely on towards the end of his life.

The surgery have a ‘Patient Fund’ that they use to fund new equipment all of the time, that can be used to help people who need it the most, just like Dave. It also goes towards day to day items that the professionals there need to rely on including things such as ECG machines, height and weight machines, and even new patient couches. The money which was raised from everyone’s kind donations after his funeral alone, funded specialist equipment to assess patients ears.

In memory of Dave, we would love to fundraise some more money for the Sutterton Surgery Patient Fund. We feel strongly about supporting this cause, to ensure more people can be helped when they need it the most by the team. We will therefore be taking part in the Humber Bridge half marathon on Sunday 29th September 2024. This will certainly be a huge challenge for us both, but for such a worthy cause and in memory of the greatest Dad, this will push us through. Any donations we are so grateful for, and thank you in advance.
