Story

Bridging the Gap

Highland Perthshire Foodbank

Highland Perthshire is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful areas in Scotland and my family is fortunate to call it home. It is also regarded by many people as one of the most affluent regions but sadly this is not the case for everyone. Jobs are mainly in the tourist industry and therefore liable to be seasonal, leading to some families having to eke out their income with benefits and access to the food bank. The Atholl Centre in Pitlochry, a long established charity that provides support to all sections of the community, manages the area food bank in association with the Trussel Trust and Perth and Kinross Council. They depend on donations to give support to families in need of help so I am asking you to please support them by sponsoring my walk across the new Queensferry Crossing on Saturday 2nd September. All the money raised will be used to stock the food bank. It's as simple as that. I was retired on health grounds in 2015 so walking 1.7 miles will be a challenge for me personally, but that pales into insignificance in the face of parents trying to feed their children when they have no money to buy food. Please help by giving what you can, every penny counts. Thank you. Eve Bell
