Story
A group of footballers, who played for Clarence Athletic and Darwen F.C. in the late 1960s and early 1970s are going to walk Hadrian’s Wall to raise money for Alzheimer’s/Dementia research, in memory of David Salmon. Along with Motor Neurone Research, for our friend Keith Richards. Plus anyone suffering with these diseases such as Barry Hamer, who will be participating. The walk will commence on 8th July 2021 and end on 17th July 2021.
Wayne Entwistle, the former Bury F.C. centre forward, is unable to start the walk due to work commitments but, with Matthew Holt, is cycling from Bury to Bowness on Solway on Saturday and then, on Sunday, to Wallsend, Newcastle then back to Bury. Wayne scored the fourth goal in Sunderland’s memorable victory at St. James’ Park and Gary Rowell scored a hat trick. If anyone wishes to participate, for all or part of the walk, you will be most welcome.
Due to giving to two charities, we are unable to set up a Just Giving page directly to the charities, however the total will be split equally and given to each accordingly. Contact Stuart Johnson, the main organiser, on 07903315225 if you have any questions
