As most of you know Dave Caveney, an ex-NS&I colleague and friend to many of us passed away last week. Sadly he had fallen on hard times and had nothing so there are no funds to pay for his funeral. The local authority will pay for the basics but Malcolm Cook and others want him to have a decent send off to celebrate his life in the way Dave would wish and is trying hard to make this happen. Many have expressed a wish to help so I am appealing to you in the ex-NS&I community to make a contribution to give Dave the send off he would want. He had no time for religious ceremonies and would rather be remembered with a smile and raised glass so let's make it happen. Any spare money will be donated to charity. Thank you.

Following his dealings with Newcastle council Malcolm has decided to decline the basic funeral on offer. They said it had to take place in Newcastle and refused to compromise under any circumstances. Dave was a Durham lad and should come home. As Leigh said "he's one of us". Malcolm is determined to see right by Dave so can I beg you all to help a bit more? If you have already contributed thanks but can you please pass this message out to anyone who is not on facebook but might know Dave and could possibly contribute. I'm not very good at this but I think you can see how important this is - please help if you can xx
