    Story

If you know me you may be aware of the illnesses and injuries that have plagued my life. If you weren't aware don't worry, I got very, good at hiding it. It's the reason I had to drop out of college and uni. It's the reason I've left every job I've been good at. Well around 2 years ago these little problems decided to blow the hell up.

Fast forward to around 10 months ago. I had tried cutting down my hours and adjusting my role at work. I worked from home or paid for Ubers. I made mistakes in the simplist tasks because I was sick and in pain. I nearly lost my mind just trying to earn enough to pay for prescriptions, food that I could keep down, a brace for every joint, whatever aloe-hemp-vitamin people on the internet said would help. Nothing worked.

After a while you have to become your own medical specialist. It's no surprise so many sick people study medicine. It took me hitting rock bottom for one doctor to consider the possibility and on 20th September 2019 I finally had my diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (along with some lovely comorbidities) confirmed.

EDS is a group of rare genetic disorders that effect the connective tissue. Connective tissue is all over the body, so the list of issues basically endless.

Now I know what it is and I have accepted the fact that my life might not look exactly how I had expected, it's time to get back to living it. Myself and my wonderful partner have put in all of the money and energy we have to keeping me alive and (sort of) kicking and I have not accepted help easily, if at all. I guess that comes with being strong, stubborn and independent to a fault.

Now the time has finally come to ask for help. Please could you wonderful humans help me get my life back by chipping in whatever you can afford so I can buy a wheelchair. This will give me that little bit of independence that I'm so desperate for. Independence that will hopefully allow me to get back out there and start being the badass I was born to be.
