Story
So to start with IL put a long post with a little bit about my condition. On September 19th 2016 I went to work on my day off – I know i am a workaholic but that mite of been one of the smartest choices I have made. The previous day I had decided to go to a walk in hospital with some small abdominal pains, I was sent home with some pain relief. When I was sitting at work I still had the pains and I was told by a colleague to go and get checked out again. My next walk in hospital visit was very different from the previous day after 7 hours of seeing different people I was admitted overnight and the next day i was told I needed an operation.
My surgical team worked on me for almost 6 hours with family and friends not knowing if I would survive. Thankfully my team were amazing and I came through. My road to recovery is far from over with lots of questions still to ask.
So what is the disease I am talking about that put me through all of this well its Crohn’s and some facts about this are below.
Inflammatory bowel disease is a life-long, incurable condition that affects around 1 in 250 people in the UK.
There are currently around 146,000 people in the UK living with ulcerative colitis, one of the two most prominent forms of IBD, and 115,000 with Crohn’s disease.
