Story
The Greyfriars Island Project will be produced by Hummingbird Drama Productions, in partnership with the Hope Centre, supported by Generate at the Royal and Derngate, writer Alan Moore and the David Laing Foundation. The project aims to produce a theatre production that helps humanise, empower, and raise awareness of people affected by homelessness in Northampton.
Subject to funding, the project will consist of 3 stages: research, development, and performance. With support from the Hope Centre, the research process will include weekly drama sessions with their service users affected by homelessness. We want to be able to hold a safe and supportive environment for participants to feel empowered to share their stories, whilst learning valuable skills through drama and theatre making. The research and content from these sessions will inform a script that will be developed into a full production.
All money raised will go towards the costs of running the drama sessions.
