I have never done this before on my own behalf, but a colleague suggested it as a means to raise enough for me to book two graduation ceremonies (all in one go, for my BA Hons and my MA. It has to be in London for my son and close friends to attend. I do feel a bit awkward doing this, as it seems to be akin to begging, but I worked b****y hard for my degrees and now I want to wallow in a bit of self-praise! Basically it's a luxury, one I can't afford, but a luxury all the same so it's not an emergency. But it'd be lovely to be able to look back on memories and photos and think 'I did it!'
