I've raised £2000 to help Cate and her children, after her having emergency spinal cord surgery and now living with the awful effects of Cauda Equina Syndrome.

Story

Following emergency spinal cord surgery and having to live with the effects of Cauda Equina Syndrome, which is essentially nerve compression and damage, causing partial paralysis and pain to the waist downwards. Some days are better than others but on bad days it can be so painful that I can only lay still and wait for the pain to go. Soon I will be transferred to Sheffield Spinal Rehabilitation Unit, where I will learn how to cope and manage with this condition. All I hope for is to get home to my babies and be the best Mum I can be for them all. Help is really needed for things like travel to and from the hospital for my babies to see me. Making my home comfortable and safe for my return to normal family life. Making a temporary bedroom downstairs so on days I can't manage the stairs, I can sleep downstairs safely.
As a very proud and fiercly independent single Mum, it is very difficult for me to ask for your help, as many of you may already know! I was so independent before this happened to me and even as positive and determined a person as I am, the effects of this may mean that I am not able to fight this and I may be stuck with this, for life. I won't give up on being strong though! I aim to help others having difficulties in their lives, once I am feeling a bit tougher both physically and mentally!! Any help you can give would be totally amazing. xxx Love Cate xxx
