Story

Willow was born with 3 rare heart defects which were operated on when she was just 9days old at Bristol children's hospital. Unfortunately the operation didn't go well and she came out of surgery on life support and in a critical condition. Despite having a second surgery at a later date, she sadly passed away in our arms at just 3weeks old. Her little heart just couldn't recover.

Now in willows memory we have set up Willows Wish, a charity to raise money and awareness to help other families of critically ill children at Bristol children's hospital. Our aim is to fund supply boxes for the families staying away from home while their child receives care at Bristol children's hospital. Items in these boxes include food, toiletries, towels washing powder, vouchers and much more. These are items many families don't have time to source themselves because they are needed at their child's bedside or simply can't afford them.

We would also hold special fund raising days for three other organisations (because Willow had three heart defects) who share our passion in helping critically ill children.

The first organisation is Bristol children's hospital. We raise money for the hospital to improve comfort for both the staff and families during the long days spent there. Many parents and staff sleep at the hospital because these children are incredibly poorly and in life threatening conditions but the resources are limited. The second organisation we hold fun raising days for is the British heart foundation. Willows condition was very rare and complex which made it difficult to treat. Hopefully by aiding research, cases like Willows will be easier to treat in the future with the possibility of a better survival rate.

The third organisation we hold fund raising days for is the Ronald McDonald house in Bristol. The Ronald McDonald house provides free accommodation for those families staying away from home while their child receives care at Bristol children's hospital.

Like most parents, I would have done anything for my child but sadly it was out of my hands. But now we can do something for the other families still struggling with poorly children and make a difference at quite possibly the worst time of their lives.
