My school - All Hallows has raised over £40,000 since 2008 for the All Saint’s Health and Community Centre in Manalathu Kudisai, a village near to Varasanadu, in the South Indian region of Tamil Nadu.

I am going to visit and help on the project in February and will be involved in making key decisions: and considering issues of development and sustainability, focusing on community health education, provision of medicines, maintenance and transport, to enable outreach to two other local villages. The provision of a resident Doctor is also being considered

Thanks to my school, All Saint’s Centre now has two Community Meeting rooms, and a third floor covered veranda which are used for Health Education, community empowerment groups, and supplementary evening education for the children of the village. The centre has provision for the safe disposal of human waste, toilets and a reliable source of clean cold and warm water, and electricity due to a new bore-hole and solar power. Medicines are now kept at the right temperature and clean water is provided for villagers when other local supplies are scarce. My challenge is to raise £1,000 to enable me to visit and raise money for the Presentation Sisters to be able to continue helping the village.
