Hope Alive was started a number of years back when my Mom and I were sitting and chatting about how blessed and fortunate we at Christmas time, we felt that we had an abundance and wanted to share that with a family who were not as fortunate as we were, and were not able to share in the Christmas season the way we were able to. So we decided to sponsor and care for another family over Christmas and we put together a giant hamper of fresh and cupboard food which I call ‘festive foods’ to celebrate the Christmas season. Parents and their children could have pizza or even popcorn for a movie night in and where they get to experience a stress free normal family environment where food would not be a challenge. It went so well that we decided from then on that we would do this project each year where we would sponsor families within the community in order to make them feel like they had something to look forward to over the Christmas period.

We collect and purchase the food every year and anonymously distribute the food out to families in the community who have been identified as having a real need. When the parents open the door and see the hope box of food and realise that someone in the community cares so much about them and their family they would became so overwhelmed with joy . Some have even told us that this has been an answer to there prayers as they didn’t know what they were going to do for food during Christmas.
