Story
About us:
Hummersknott Badminton Club has always served our community. Just recently, we’ve raised more than £3,500 for local food banks and we’ve planted nearly 1,000 trees in honour of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, but now we’re putting our own fundraising on hold to help the international community.
We’ve toured 42 countries over 25 years to enrich our players and to promote international friendship and unity through sport, and we’re next due to travel to Greece and Cyprus this summer.
Our Current mission:
By working with Badminton England and the Ukrainian Badminton Federation, with your donations, we hope to take six Ukrainian youth players who have been forced to leave their homes and settle in the UK to join us on tour.
Feel free to view the below video for some wider context and what we feel we can give to the players:
The Quiz on offer before has now been completed and the Voucher won and awarded.

2 years agoWe continue to be amazed at the generosity from so many people. As well as this page there are other streams of donating and we are getting close to covering all essential costs with the hope of releasing small sums for the Refugees on tour to have some “spending money” which we shall seek to be spent wisely! Further donations welcome and we hope to have an accurate picture of the state of the fund by 3rd July 2022.

2 years agoThe visit to Darlington by the Ukrainian players this week was a phenomenal success. We are all looking forward to the July Mediterranean Tour. Still looking to raise the final stage of the required funding so that our guests can do "everything" the group seek to do in Cyprus and Greece. We are extremely grateful to those who have donated. Further support is invited if anyone further would like to support them.

2 years agoWe are extremely encouraged that overall we now have promised or banked about £6500. We plan to take 4 Ukrainian young refugees and one parent with us to play in Cyprus and Greece. Realistically we need £8500 so this page will make all the difference. If you had thought of supporting these people and would like to do so the process is very simply clicking appropriate links to give a donation or buy a Quiz from £2. £70 store voucher prize for best answers. We are grateful to The Key organisation for supporting two projects each worth £1000.
