Story
Last year started off like any other year, but on 29th February, we recieved the shocking news that my husband, Ian was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. This was a shock to the whole family and the majority of us had never even heard of it. MND is a rare degenerative disease, that affects 1 in 300 people, and at this time there is no known cure. The disease has affected Ian's motor skills, which include his walking and balance, and he is currently using crutches to aid his walking. We live in an old house with very steep stairs and Ian is struggling to climb the stairs to get to the bathroom and also has difficulty getting in and out of the bath. We therefore need to build a wet room downstairs to make his life easier. We hope to raise the money for these necessary facilities to be added to the house, and any donations would be welcome.

7 years agoThank you to all who attended the fundraiser dinner last night! What a turn out, a great mix of Ian's former pupils, his old classmates, fellow footballers, work colleagues and family. From the tickets, raffle, envelopes, and auction we raised just under £8500!! A massive thank you to everyone involved and for the lovey speeches, myself and Ian are overwhelmed at the continued support.

7 years agoWhen we started this page we thought a target of £1000 seemed like a good place to start, not thinking we would surpass that within weeks! We are just under £3000, Ian and I are so grateful for everyone's donations! We are planning a fundraising Dinner in celebration of Ian's career in sport and teaching. You can find more information and can buy tickets at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/celebration-dinner-and-fundraiser-for-ian-beck-tickets-32593939350
