Isla Gray has passed the selection process for the World Scout Jamboree that is being held in South Korea in 2023. Isla is the only Overton Scout to attend this event, and she the first ever Overton Scout to ever attend a World Scout Jamboree.

The World Scout Jamboree is being held from Tuesday 1 August to Saturday 12 August 2023 in South Korea. More than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will gather for this, the 25th World Scout Jamboree. It is a World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) event, and it happens every four years, each time hosted by a different country. UK young people aged 14 to 17 and their leaders will attend and they call themselves the UK Contingent. Isla is the only Scout from Overton attending, and she had to pass a selection process to attend. We are really proud of her efforts. She is preparing for the event by completing camp activities with the other Hampshire scouts who are attending.

She has to raise just under £4000 in total, and to help her get to this target, she has a few ideas for fundraising!

Firstly, she sold some of her old toys at a Car Boot Sale in Whitchurch, and raised about £85. Then she completed walking the Itchen Way, a walk of just under 32 miles in one day. This was done on Saturday 9th July, and the walk took her all day, starting 6:30am and finishing about 6:30pm. Next she is planning a Quiz night in St Marys Hall in Overton, so we will update this page when this is organised!
