Story

Thank you for taking the time to read James' page

James is 2 years old & was born 4 months early at 24 weeks & 5 days just on the brink of survival, despite all the odds stacked against him James survived. James was born with 2 pre- existing medical conditions one which affected his lungs causing them to collapse & one which affected his bowel causing it to twist
These coupled with his prematurity caused James to suffer 2 bleeds on the brain, this form of brain injury has sadly left James not only disabled but severely visually impaired
At 4 months James had emergency abdominal surgery to save his bowel which had twisted, after having a large portion of bowel removed James has been left which a life limiting condition called Short Bowel Syndrome which can cause malnutrition & as a result James is currently fed via a feeding tube in his tummy as James has lost the ability to eat.
At 1 year & 2 weeks old James finally made it home, its been a rough journey for all of us as a family especially coming to terms that James is disabled & needs a lot of help to reach his full potential in life, James currently can only roll over & commando crawl
Unfortunately the NHS can't offer us the help James needs, so we are fundraising to access other therapies to help James, for example- Brainwave, a charity who offer intense therapy sessions, Hippotherapy a form of horse rising & Hydrotherapy
James also needs access to specialist equipment such as- therapy benches, specialist camera monitor to monitor him at night time due to his sleep apnoea, reflux & to make sure he doesnt wrap himself up in his feeding tube, as well as specialist feeding supplies such as pads to protect his tummy from his tube, a belt to protect his tube at preschool & a specialist made feeding bag to carry his pump in
As a family all we wish for James is that he can live a full & happy life & enjoy it with his friends & family without struggle

Thank you for reading & your support x
