Story
My name is Jimmy, in our family we have me, Cathrine and our daughter Lilly. As long as i can remember we've always had dogs and i'm a huge believer in a family isn't complete without a pet.
All our dogs have been rescue dogs, Harry was the my first dog away from my parents who was a long haired Dachshund. His personality, the love he had to give and excitement made me fall in love with the breed. We rescued Harry from a puppy farm. Reggie followed on soon after, who we rescued from a lady who used to show him. Reggie is a lovely long haired Dachshund, he had to have an ingrowing hair removed from his forehead which left a scar and the lady couldn't show him no more, loosing interest in him so we welcomed him with open arms. They both made our home complete, January 2015 our first daughter was born Lilly and we choose to get her dachshund she could grown up with. We noticed a lady locally wanting to sell her dog due to allowing her to have puppies to early, leading in complications meaning she had a c-section and spayed (you can see her scar in the picture below). She wasn't able to be used by the lady no longer but that meant we could welcome her to our extended family. Jammi was only 1 1/2 when we took her in our open door. From day one Lilly and Jammi was inseparable. They slept together, played together and ate together.

Harry passed away in December 2016, due to his age and has left a space in our hearts but Jammi filled this up giving out even more love! Jammi took Reggie under her wing and mothers him like he's her puppy.

3 Years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and a year ago decided to stop taking medication and learn to cope, deal with the problem and over come it. I find one of the best therapies was actually in my home, Jammi and Reggie offer me the relaxation and seem to ease my pain away with their personalities and love. Stroking their fury belly makes me forget about it.

Unfortunately on the 28th July 2017 I rushed Jammi in to the vets after we noticed her dragging her back legs and not being he bubbly self. She was given medication and we were told to keep an eye on her as they suspected, at worst, a sprain. As the problem didn't get any better on the 31st July 2017 I was back in the vets getting Jammi X-rayed and checked over. Due to Jammi's complications with pregnancy meaning we couldn't insure her so the check ups and X-rays have been paid for by ourselves, then we were told the worst news possible, Jammi has been diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disk Disease) and in need of surgery and a lot of aftercare or she will never walk again. Below is Jammi still a bit dazed after her general anesthetic and X-rays (see her little bandage due to her catheter.

IDVV (Intervertebral Disc Disease) happens to nearly 25% of dachshunds due to their long bodies and short legs. This is when the jelly like discs between the vertebrates deteriorate and harden. This causes pressure on the spinal cord leaving our loved ones with complete paralysis.
The surgery will remove the hardened material from the spine solving the problem but this is where the aftercare will come in. Jammi will need a huge amount of physical therapy and rehabilitation to get her back to being the happy, bubbly, full of life dog we're used to.
Our vet estimates these fees to be around £4000-7000 and we just don't have these funds available currently, which breaks my heart, not being able to act now. However anything we raise from here will start the process as we still look at ways to give Jammi the life she deserves. Even now she's smiling.

Any monies not used or made over the target will be donated to other pet owners with the same problem and hopefully we can help keep other families homes complete.
